Yep -not only are we now officially halfway to the week-end, but it’s also reveal day at Mix it Up! Mixer #25 is to create a monochromatic layout using white! before you get all panicky- a little colour is okay! Remember if you like, there’s also a terrific sketch that Juliana has created for us to use once again! This was a great challenge that really helped me think outside the box. The team all created amazing pages to inspire you…go check them out!
It’s really bothering me that my title and some of the die-cut sheet are lifting in the photograph, but it’s raining outside and this one just doesn’t scan well. Let’s see what you’ve got- come and play along with us!
I finished the layout I started at crop last night! It almost didn’t happen at all, as the mojo only started to flow once a certain fellow cropper started to focus on her page and let the rest of us do the same! 🙂 Do you know difficult it is to concentrate when the conversation turns to kitties and their “bouboules” or lack thereof?! 🙂 anyhoo…I think I only started to get into my page about an hour before crop finished, so I had some finishing touches to add after I got home. Then I did something totally out of character… I actually dated , scanned and submitted my page before turning in for the night. I think unfortunately the Caramel Macchiato I had after crop had something to do with not being able to fall asleep much before 3:30 am. Next week DECAF!!
I’m pretty happy with the way this one turned out, but then again look at the pictures- how could I not like a page with that mug on it?
Thursdays and Fridays are kind of like mini days off for me. As a stay at home mom of 2, a day off is really an impossible thing, but these two days are as close as I can get. Ethan still goes to daycare on these days ( only until the end of August 😦 ), so Parker and I are alone from 8am until 3:30 0r 4pm when we go pick him up. This is wonderful because I can always be sure to be able to grab a morning or afternoon nap ( whichever Parker feels he’s going to have that day).
As good as an hour and a half nap feels during the day, and as sleep deprived as I have been lately, I can’t help but feeling guilty when I do take advantage. I always feel I should be cleaning, doing prep for dinner, or something equally productive. Guilt or no, it seems there is very little that can keep me from my bed after rocking and nursing Parker to sleep for half an hour. ( that alone usually makes me nod off in the chair).
I also daydream on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday about all the wonderful things I will accomplish with only 1 kid to tote around on Thursday and Friday. Most of these never happen as 3:30 seems to come really fast most days- especially when you factor in the nap :).
On a totally separate note, here’s a layout I started last Friday while cropping at my house with my friends. It began with a sketch challenge from Creative Scrappers, and ended with a challenge from Scrap the Boys.
I keep telling myself- (and anyone else who cares to listen) that I dislike Basic Grey products. I had to laugh when I was organizing my paper the other day, because I seem to have more BG paper than any other manufacturer. I really do love some of the bolder colour in the new lines such as Lime Rickey, Marakech and June Bug (used here). I guess it’s a secret love- kinda like how I feel about the band Rush, but we can talk about that one later…
You read right! It’s time for the next mixer challenge to be revealed at Mix it Up ! It’s also my first submission as a new Design Team member. I had lots of fun with this one! The challenge was to use a photo of yourself that was at least 20 years old. I don’t often use older photos, and I hardly ever scrap photos of myself so this was fun- not to mention I got to use up lots of girly stuff from my stash for once! If you want to participate in the challenges, head on over, and post a link to your creation in the comments and see the great pages created by the team! This Month’s sponsor is Noel Mignon, a cool scrapbook and cardmaking store, with some pretty awesome looking kits!
Well I’ve been busy the last few days creating pages for upcoming mixers on the Mix -It -Up blog. I think this Dt was just what I needed to start really having fun scrapbooking again ! The Mixers are lots of fun, you should really come check them out!
Some of you may remember Ethan’s way of flip-flopping words. When he was smaller, it took us forever to get him to pronounce “cookie” properly instead of saying “Kee-Ko”. The last couple of weeks I’ve been laughing at how he pronounces “piano” as “pa-neeo”. Today’s word though really takes the cake !! While having an afternoon snack of candied popcorn Ethan exclaims…are you ready for this?! really ready?!
…”MY LOVE COP-PORN !!”
Have a great day!
okay, okay! I’m a bit late with the Canada Day greeting. It seems like holidays here are even more hectic than regular days, so forget downloading photos and writing a blog entry the same day 🙂
We spent Canada Day at our Neighbor’s house. We had a BBQ, and just took it easy. As you can see from the photo, Ethan had a blast when the bubble blowing started!
I had a funny feeling that something wasn’t quite right tonight as I was getting my bag ready for crop. I knew my friend Claude wouldn’t be able to make our weekly meeting at Scrapbook Centrale due to her hubby’s softball commitments, I do remember reading an e-mail saying that Noemi was leaving to go camping, and now that I think about it I don’t recall seeing the weekly message from JJ saying we had been signed up. Leave it to me to not put 2 and 2 together and continue on my merry way like it was any other Friday night…
As walk through the store it hits me- I’m cropping solo! oops! My bad!
I missed all the girlies tonight. missed the chit chat, the input and the coffee! To my surprise I managed to finish a layout and shop in under 2 hours! Let me tell you though, strange things happen when friends let friends crop solo…like this oddity of a LO- now ladies tell me- who’s style could I possibly be chanelling if none of you were there?! 😛
